About
Thirupugazh are devotional songs composed by Arunagirinathar, a 15th-century Tamil saint who dedicated his life to praising Murugan. The songs are celebrated for their intricate rhythmic patterns, literary depth, and spiritual warmth. They are still sung and recited widely across Tamil-speaking communities today.
This app exists for one reason: to help you slowly become familiar with these songs. To recognise a phrase, recall a line, grow a feel for the verses over repeated visits. It is a learning tool, not a competition. There is no leaderboard, no timer, no pressure to score perfectly.
How the quiz works
Each set draws 10 questions from a single Thirupugazh song, across three formats:
- Rearrange — put the scrambled lines of a verse back in order.
- Multiple choice — identify the correct phrase or word from the song.
- Fill in the blanks — recall a specific word from the verse.
You can reveal the full song lyrics at any point during the quiz. The hint is always there — use it freely, especially when you are just getting to know a song.
Scores and progress
Your score history is saved only on your own device and is never sent anywhere. It is a quiet nudge to revisit songs you have not tried yet, not a measure of knowledge or devotion. There is no right pace. Come back when you feel like it.
